Surgery

We know how difficult and stressful it can be to bring your animal companion in for a surgery. That's why at Guelph Lake Veterinary Hospital we make sure that it is as stress-free for both you and your pet as possible whenever we recommend a surgical procedure. Our caring and highly skilled veterinarians and technicians will go over the details of the procedure with you, answer any questions you might have, and ensure that your pet is kept as relaxed as possible. After the surgery, we will take time to discuss the post-operative care that your pet will require, as well as a pain management strategy to help your pet on the road to recovery. Our goal is to get your pet back to their normal, active lifestyle as comfortably as possible.

With most surgeries, anesthesia represents the greatest risk. We recommend that all pets be pre-screened to ensure that they are healthy and strong enough for the surgery before we begin. Routine surgeries including pet spays and neuters, as well as more complex soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries are all undertaken in a controlled environment and under the watchful eyes and hands of our experienced technicians and veterinarians.  Pets are kept as comfortable as possible during the procedure and afterwards, often with some extra cuddles from our staff to keep them company while they wake up.

GLVH believes in the continuing education of our veterinarians and staff and we keep up to date with the latest surgical techniques and procedures. You can be confident that when you bring your pet to Guelph Lake Veterinary Hospital for a surgical procedure they will be in knowledgeable and attentive hands.
