Meet Shanti and Mowgli - kittens, kittens, kittens!

GLVH

As I type, I can hear Mowgli and Shanti chasing each other through our treatment area, wrestling over one of their toys. They aren't littermates, but they certainly act like it, playing and tumbling like brothers and sisters do.

Meet Mowgli:

A 2 month old grey tabby, this guy is speedy and lots of fun! He loves to lay in your arms like a baby and have his belly rubbed. He has an instant purr when he is picked up!

And here's Shanti:

A 3 month old grey female kitten with pretty amber eyes, she is playful but snuggly. She's a little quieter than Mowgli, but just as feisty when she's wrestling or protecting a toy! She has a perfect rumbly purr.

These kittens could be adopted separately or together. As mentioned, they aren't littermates, but they have been together since they've been with the Guelph Humane Society - first at the same foster home and now with us. They get along well, and are often found sleeping curled up together.

If you or someone you know might be interested in adopting either Shanti or Mowgli (or both, for double the fun and love!), just drop by GLVH during our regular business hours and we'd be happy to introduce you in person. Cats adopted through our partnership with the Guelph Humane Society will receive a $25 gift card to be used at GLVH for future pet care.

Internet Cat Film Festival coming to Guelph!

GLVH

The Just For Cats Film Festival is coming to Guelph this week! We love the idea of this fun community event and fundraiser.

Thursday June 19th, starting with a VIP cocktail reception and screening starting at 5:30pm and a second general admission screening at 9pm, cat lovers of the Guelph area will be treated to an event for anyone who has clicked that "you have to see this cat video!" link in their email.

The Bookshelf Cinema is hosting this fabulous furry feline event, featuring the best of the internet's many cat videos (Grumpy Cat and NONONONO cat to name just two!), along with some feature appearances by local kitties.

The event is a fundraiser for the Guelph Humane Society, and tickets can be purchased online, or in person at the Humane Society.

Anna arrives at GLVH

GLVH

Our newest Guelph Humane Society (GHS) adoption cat has arrived this morning! Anna is busy exploring the clinic and making herself at home. All of our GHS cats seem to like sleeping in the corner under the reception desk and she's discovered that little hideaway already.

Anna is a lovely little 8 month old black and white kitten with a bright pink nose, a luxurious long, fluffy tail and a great purr. She is mostly black, but her back legs and her front paws are white as well as her face and chest.

For more information about Anna you can contact the Guelph Humane Society or contact us at (519) 824-9898 if you think she might be the right cat for you. She'll be spayed this week by Dr. Gardiner and ready for adoption very soon!

UPDATE May 26th 2014: Anna is fully healed from her spay and is enjoying having the run of the clinic! She is a big hit with clients - she's very social and loves to roll on the floor for belly rubs! She has a great purr that doesn't take much coaxing and would love to find a family with lots of people and activity!

UPDATE 2 June 4th 2014: Anna will be featured this Friday on the Guelph Humane Society's segment on Rogers (her television debut!), as well as on CJOY and Magic 106.1 during the Furry Fridays segments in the morning. We love Anna, but we really hope that this helps her to find a loving forever home. She is a frisky young girl who loves to play and cuddle and would be a great companion!

Bell is ready for adoption!

GLVH

Belle.jpg

The staff at Guelph Lake Vet are enjoying having little Bell in the clinic for the last week - she is the friendliest, cuddliest little kitten!

A sister to the two kittens we had in a couple of weeks ago, Bell is a sweetheart who loves to be around people. She is spayed and has had her first shots and is ready to go to a loving home.

If you or someone you know would like to meet her, drop by anytime during our office hours for a visit!

Call (519) 824-9898 for more information, or come by 322 Eastview Road to meet Belle.

As always, there are lots of dogs and cats available for adoption at the Guelph Humane Society - you can find out more about them on the GHS adoption gallery page.

Our first kittens have arrived!

GLVH

Guelph Lake Vet is happy to start our partnership with the Guelph Humane Society as a satellite adoption location. We've got a brand-new multi level cat condo in our hospital which will be home to kittens and cats looking for their forever families. The current residents are these adorable little two month old black kittens. They even have black whiskers and black paw pads!

These sweeties have already been claimed by a family who visited them on Sunday, and we don't blame them one bit for falling in love with both of them! Snow and Charm are tightly bonded and follow each other around, so we're happy that they will be going to the same home once all of the Humane Society interview and approvals process is completed.

Until then, we'll be cuddling them and making sure they are spayed, neutered and have their first round of shots.

Guelph Lake Vet thanks community for Grand Opening success

GLVH

The ownership and staff of Guelph Lake Veterinary Hospital would like to thank everyone who joined us at our Grand Opening celebration on Sunday, December 8th.

We were so thrilled to see so many familiar faces come through the door – family, friends and supporters, as well as some new clients and neighbours! GLVH's first-ever pet patient, Lily the sheltie, visited with her owners and Dr. Mel was in charge of examining stuffed animal pets that joined us with their young owners.

We were pleased to meet representatives from the City of Guelph including Ian Findlay (our Ward 2 representative) who was our first visitor of the day and Cam Guthrie who, despite being a Ward 4 councillor, made the trek allllll the way over to our side of the city!

Thank you to Caroline and Gwen from the Guelph Humane Society for bringing so many adorable cats for adoption. Our bank of kennels in the treatment area of the hospital was full of rambunctious kittens and had a crowd around it all afternoon. The very friendly Harvey, a big fluffy black cat, was adopted and several other families were interested in learning more about the process for adoption. Stay tuned for more details on our continuing relationship with the Humane Society!

We were happy to have a collection of door prizes provided by our vendors and associates, and one lucky little girl even won an iPod Shuffle! We were also pleased to provide refreshments to our guests, featuring local businesses including Planet Bean coffee, a delicious cheese assortment from Chartelli’s on Grange Rd, and adorable (and delicious!) cupcakes from Sweet Temptations.

We are so happy to be part of this community on the east end of Guelph, and we look forward to meeting more of our neighbours and business leaders in the months to come. If you weren't able to come to the Grand Opening, we welcome you to drop in and say hello!

Grand Opening invitation - Guelph Lake Veterinary Hospital

GLVH

Dr. Gardiner and the staff of GLVH (on the corner of Eastview and Watson Pkwy) would like to invite friends, neighbours, family members and curious Guelphites to stop by our Grand Opening Open House event on Sunday December 8th, 2013 from 12 pm - 4pm

We are excited to be hosting a Guelph Humane Society adoption event during our open house - a great opportunity to welcome a new pet to your home and to take advantage of some Grand Opening deals! Adopt a pet at our Grand Opening, and GLVH will also include a $25 gift card to our hospital, which can be used for your next appointment, food or retail purchase.

Kids, bring your favourite stuffed animal for a chance to be examined by a veterinarian, and also have an X-ray with our new digital X-ray machine! There will also be a ribbon cutting, refreshments and door prizes.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday, December 8th!
